He began playing in leagues when he was very young and from that time forward began to learn, develop, and gain an intense appreciation and passion for the sport. He was blessed through the years to be on outstanding teams with very gifted basketball teachers. Sammy grew as a player and his desire to teach others, as he had been taught growing up. He won many AAU games and tournaments while traveling around the country. He cultivated lifelong friendships and learned the importance of teamwork, perfecting your skills and the discipline of reinforcing character, integrity, and spiritual values through the sport of basketball. Sammy graduated from Pulaski Academy in Little Rock, AR in 2004. During high school he was awarded all-state honors both his Jr. and Sr. seasons. Sammy was named to the All-Arkansas 2nd team as a Junior and 1st team as a Senior. He played an integral part in the school’s only back to back State Championships. He was also named a McDonalds All-American nominee his senior season as PA was ranked #20 by USA Today. Sammy turned down many mid major scholarship offers to walk on for his dream school, The University of Arkansas, where he would letter and earn Academic Honor Roll in 2005. He graduated in 2008 with a B.S. degree in Kinesiology. Sammy has spent the past 4 years as a Recruiting Coordinator for D1 Sports Training in Little Rock. He has been involved with D1 since its beginning in Little Rock and has been active in the community encouraging kids, teenagers, and adults to become involved in sports training. Sammy has also worked with kids in individual basketball training as well as coaching a 13U AAU team this past summer. Sammy has been blessed to have an expansive range of experiences related to basketball. Basketball has taken Sammy all over the country and has allowed him to see and experience things he wouldn’t have otherwise if it weren’t for basketball. The latest is the opportunity to be a part of the Ganon Baker Basketball training program. Sammy has known of Ganon Baker and his basketball reputation for a while, but was just recently blessed to be able to attend his coaching clinic. Sammy knew immediately that this program was something that he wanted to be a part of. Sammy knows the importance of strong foundational basketball skills and feels like Ganon Baker’s methods and techniques teach excellent tools highly necessary to be great at basketball.
